New Blog! Check it out

I just came back from a great trip to California. It was my first time there and I was surprised at how much I loved it. I had the misguided belief that Los Angeles was California, and I was not the biggest fan of L.A. But the other cities and beach towns I had an opportunity to check out were amazing. So amazing that I have decided to place the characters of my first novel in Burbank California and some other cities around there. So, California is now my muse! I began working on the novel this past week and cannot wait to see where it goes.

On another note, I have also started a third blog called Smart Mouth! This blog will deal with many of the causes that I believe in, from equality to environmental friendly ways of living. So please check it out! http://chicreid.blogs.com/smart_mouth_chic_speaks_o/

I have every intention of finally finishing my Film Fest movie reviews. Many of the films will come out next year just in time for you to check them out.

Bitten by the O bug. I'm Famous!!! (In my world at least)

Dear Chic Girls and Boys,

I know I have been a bad bad blogger for many months now. Between working the 9-5 grinds (to pay the bills), and building a portfolio (as a new freelance writer), I have often looked longingly at my little neglected blog, yet had no energy to get these fingers typing. But I have been working. Working on a website actually. My own website www.chaka.ca is up and live!

It shows excerpts from my editorial work, like my interview with Hilary Duff (for Lush magazine), and my first pieces with NOW magazine (when I was just a little university lad). I am also very very very happy to say that I crashed my first major magazine party! A piece I wrote was featured in O, The Oprah magazine. It was a two page spread in the July issue and I am very thrilled at being amongst such talented renowned celebrities like Spike Lee and Diane Keaton as part of the O, Guaranteed Authenticity series. It's a honour to be published in this magazine, and it has renewed a fire in me, that's always burning but was a little dimmer for the last few months.
